Hypertension

High risk pregnancy hospital visits are never fun. While waiting in the lobby my mind always thinks of "what-ifs", or "is the baby alright?". Today was another one of those days, and my blood pressure was normal, until today. My pulse read 95 and my blood pressure was 163/93 (not good). So my doctor took an ultra sound of the baby (probably to get my mind off of it), he/she is getting so big and was moving around during the ultra sound. Then the OB and I talked about my option. He said he would like to complete the Quad Serum Integrated Screening, also known as AFP (this is where they combine the blood they took during my first trimester along with blood they will take in the my second trimester and compare the results), mostly he wanted this done since my high blood pressure might be back. He wants to make sure the baby is still healthy even though my symptoms are coming back.

This of course has made me SO nervous. Now here came the "what if's" again. Also the worst part is I might not know the results of the Quad Market Screening until maybe two months far now. I should be clear that I am not terminating this pregnancy if there is anything wrong with my baby. This test will just tell the doctors how to proceed on with my pregnancy and if I should have a C-section or natural child birth.

So now it looks like my 2nd trimester and 3rd will be the most entertaining, and by "entertaining" I mean, "not boring".
